A sip of it can make you dazzle. The aroma, the color, its charm has this captivating effect on you. People would exceed 6 glasses of consumption. Wine! As King Solomon of the Biblical times stated, wine makes the heart rejoice and that is what South Africa is achieving. This country is at full throttle of the wine production and technology! Apart from the rich culture, South Africa holds a prominent position in the wine production and distribution. That’s the reason why Wine tourism is always an option when touring or traveling in SA. The country is considered to be the 8th largest producer with wines analogous to that of other European countries such as France, Germany and Italy. The pioneering region that is showered with vineyards is the Western Cape Province of S. Africa. Here South African wines often smell of ripe, silky fruit accompanied by earthy flavors. Because of the generally warm climate, South Africa's red grapes can get particularly ripe and produce full, highly induced alcohol wines. The climate here in the Western Cape is even more helpful as it contributes to the bright acidity that keeps things fresh and food-friendly.
What types of wines to taste!
The number of wines is whooping. According to Alvis’ Drift, the most interesting part of it is that South Africa has red, white and some of them can give you the impression of a black coloration. Let’s see some of the wines they suggest we ought to try out when we get to SA.

It is one of the most expensive wines in South Africa. Well, I am not surprised. Do you know why? Pinot Noir’s very taste is pretty expensive. I mean, it is made up of Cranberry, Raspberry, and Cherry fruits and it takes 3-19 years to get fully launched for consumption. The ageing depends on the style you want it. It is served at 170c.

This is a wine rich in fruity and exotic flavors. It has got blueberry, and boysenberry flavors with a savory black olive highlighting it. The amazing part of is that when trying to smell it you get attacked with a flavor that reminds of a spicy or peppery aftertaste. It is blended with grapes or Grenache and Mourverdre to develop an equally refreshing blend called Cotes du Rhone blend.

Red Zinfandel wine
This is wine that accompanies a lot of dishes especially the ones that include meat. That could be chicken, cured meat, pork, lamb, barbecue, Thai, Chinese and Indian foods. For those of you who are alcohol-searchers, be rest assured that it has a low alcohol content of 9-10%. It contains strawberry, blackberry, sweet tobacco and five spice powders. You would definitely love it.

It produces a full yet subtle wine with little acid; often used in blends. Locally, some outstanding wooded varietal wines have been produced from this grape variety which once represented 93% of all Cape vines and now accounts for only about 1%.

Where to taste wines
As earlier stated, the best place to have an unforgettable taste of wine is Cape Town. It has some of the world’s best wine producing vineyards and they can be easily accessed by travelers and wine tourists. The wine regions of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl would be within your reach when you get to Cape Town. It is an hours’ drive and while at it, you will get marveled by the historical and stunning views. In each region, there are a number of wine farms. Only In Stellenbosch, you have more than 250 wine farms. Awesome, isn’t it?

If you have the chance to go to South Africa, ensure you entertain yourself with some of the finest wines Cape Town could offer. When you are done, go get some sosaties (native barbecue).
